Role: Subject Lead - Math & Science

Location: Armley Grange School, Leeds, LS12 3QH

Salary: £45,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 08.30am - 4.30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start Date: January 2026

About the Role

As our Subject Lead for Maths & Science, you’ll bring both subjects to life across the school — making learning meaningful, engaging, and accessible for every pupil.

You’ll play a key leadership role in developing and delivering high-impact, creative teaching that connects theory to real-world experiences. Through your subject knowledge and enthusiasm, you’ll help shape the direction of Maths and Science and support colleagues to deliver excellence every day.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

Lead, plan, and deliver an inspiring Maths and Science curriculum tailored to meet a diverse range of abilities and learning needs
Embed trauma-informed and relational approaches that promote engagement, confidence, and resilience
Use assessment and data effectively to track progress, inform planning, and celebrate achievement
Mentor, coach, and collaborate with colleagues to support professional growth and consistency
Champion creativity and cross-curricular learning, making STEM subjects relevant and exciting
Model outstanding classroom practice, demonstrating passion, innovation, and inclusivity
Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement and curriculum innovation
Ensure safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion are at the heart of every aspect of teaching and learning

Who we are looking for

We’re seeking a teacher who is:

A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a strong background in both Maths and Science
Experienced in supporting pupils with Autism or additional learning needs
Confident in leading curriculum development, assessment, and subject improvement
Skilled at motivating and mentoring others, building a culture of positivity and collaboration
Passionate about inclusive, creative teaching that brings learning to life
Reflective, resilient, and committed to professional growth
Knowledgeable about trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and strategies that support emotional wellbeing

Armley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces with the needs of the pupils in mind.

Armley Grange is a day school that caters for pupils from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each pupil to achieve their goals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.

For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
