Please note that for candidates requesting to work in Newcastle, this role will be based at Benton Park View from September 2025, and then at 1 Pilgrim Place in Newcastle city centre by the end of 2027.

The DWP Centralised Workplace Adjustment Team (C-WPA) was established to streamline the process of providing workplace adjustments for employees with disabilities and health conditions. The Team is high-performing, friendly, supportive, and inclusive in a demanding but rewarding environment.

As part of the Centre of Expertise for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Wellbeing, we’re on a mission to simplify and accelerate workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities and health conditions—empowering them to thrive.

Our work directly supports line managers and ensures that every employee or job applicant receives the adjustments they need to succeed.

The successful candidate can expect to be involved in a range of the following:

  • Drive Strategic Leadership: Be a visible, influential member of the Senior Leadership Team—personally championing key messages, leading change, and inspiring engagement across the organisation.
  • Lead with Purpose: Act as the central coordination hub for estates-related workplace adjustments, taking ownership of complex, multi-site cases and ensuring seamless, consistent delivery from triage to closure.
  • Champion Inclusion and Collaboration: Role model inclusive behaviours and foster a culture of partnership by working closely with Estates, HR Casework, Commercial, and Site Responsible Officers (SROs).
  • Innovate for Impact: Develop and implement tools, templates, and guidance that drive consistency and innovation in national delivery—setting the standard for excellence.
  • Shape the Future: Identify operational gaps and lead on scalable, strategic solutions that enhance processes, align with policy, and embed best practice across the team.
  • Own Complex Caseloads: Manage high-priority and sensitive cases with confidence—using analytical insight to scope adjustments, assess needs, and present evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Build Capability and Resilience: Coach and mentor colleagues, share expertise, and promote reflective practice to strengthen team performance and service quality.
  • Lead Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate trusted relationships with internal and external partners, navigating complex cases with clarity and professionalism while ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
