To support the Supplies & Procurement Department to undertake a wide range of procurement related projects, some of which may require implementation across all Clinical Service Units within Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust (LTHT). The job holder will plan, implement and manage a portfolio of projects under the supervision of the Lead Clinical Procurement Specialist. The job holder is expected to provide leadership for delivering and supporting the implementation of project outcomes across all clinical areas within LTHT and supporting the strategic aims and delivery of Nursing and Midwifery agendas within LTHT. To participate in direct patient care as determined by the project portfolio which will include undertaking clinical audits, assessments and evaluation of care. To maintain clinical credibility by working as a registered nurse within relevant clinical area(s). The job holder will work as part of a team of nurses within the Supplies and Procurement to: support and undertake project work both independently and as part of the Supplies & Procurement department, delivering on change management projects related to the LTHT Procurement Strategy develop clinical Policies and Clinical Guidelines There may be a requirement for some occasional weekend, out of hours and on call work, particularly during the implementation phase of projects. Set, monitor and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care Participate in the analysis of information from a variety of sources and make recommendations for implementation in clinical areas Support and be involved in service redesign and their application to clinical areas across LTHT To highlight relevant operational activities to the Lead Clinical Procurement Specialist in order to manage and implement defined project targets, and notifying the project manager / Lead CPS when issues or problems occur. To provide regular updates or progress reports as required by the Lead Clinical Procurement Specialist To take part in Medical Device and Equipment evaluations and documenting the results. Support Matrons, Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses who are implementing / product changes in their clinical areas. This will include working in a variety of clinical settings, including ward environments. Provide advice which directly relates to patient care delivery. This will include visiting ward environments, undertaking audits and assessments and making recommendations for product changes which will directly impact on patient and service delivery. To disseminate and receive feedback on procurement projects from nursing, medical, and allied health professionals. To be able to evaluate the clinical impact succinctly for inclusion in reports. Actively seek and identify opportunities for new ways of working to improve efficiency. Promote evidence based care within clinical areas. Work with the Lead Clinical Procurement Specialist to ensure the implementation & delivery of the Procurement Strategy via agreed action plans. Act in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Code of Conduct. To provide specialist advice to clinical colleagues in the care and service delivery when relevant to the use of new products or systems To participate in the direct care of patients in a variety of clinical settings when implementing and evaluating new products and in order to maintain clinical skills. To be able to fully participate in all components of clinical care including the need administration of medications (including intravenous drugs and fluids), undertaking complex dressings, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care pathways. LEADERSHIP Be a positive role model and promote change in nursing and clinical practice in order to improve staff and patient experience via projects delegated the Lead Clinical Procurement Specialist. Lead by example Work with the Procurement team to promote, develop and deliver the Procurement strategy across the Trust. To support the implementation of Leaders in Leeds using the Leadership Fundamentals matrix To develop relevant networks with colleagues in other NHS Trusts. To work with relevant stakeholders and key personnel at LTH who will facilitate the successful implementation of procurement projects. EDUCATION Facilitate and deliver both formal and informal training to a range of registered and unregistered staff about new clinical products. Co-ordination of training and education events held by both internal and external stakeholders. This includes planning agendas, organising speakers, inviting participants and delivering the training. Create training materials and presentations and deliver training To support the preparation of user guides and training materials and provide input into the structure of training sessions. To deliver one to one and classroom based training on new products or procurement solutions being implemented to staff of all levels. To provide support for users on a one to one basis, in groups while floor walking, and at a distance via phone and bleep. Ensure efficient delivery of relevant mandatory training Liaison with local and regional organisations including NHS Trusts & Universities supporting visits, and undertaking teaching/training on the use of medical devices / equipment. RESEARCH and AUDIT To devise audit tools that can be used in a variety of clinical settings Undertake audits in clinical areas collaborating with clinical teams, collate results, report these back to project managers and input data onto spread sheets. This will include ability to use hand held PCs Compile audit results and present the results at both in-formal and formal settings Follow up and implement any actions following Internal Audit investigations Undertake literature and research reviews for evidence to support project portfolios. This includes the ability to use research databases, summarising relevant literature and making recommendations To be able to analyse basic data and present it on spread sheet MANAGERIAL Undertake a range of projects some will be time limited, others of a more variable duration. The post holder having the ability to adapt to these varied timescales. Ability to reprioritise workload, including ability to stop immediately and respond to requests to complete new tasks at short-notice. Undertake a broad range of projects Develop training and assessment documents, policies and procedures pertinent to project portfolios. This includes being part of working parties, using initiative and making recommendations for inclusion in Trust wide policy documents. The job holder will participate in annual Individual Performance Review To support the work of other team members who may work within the Procurement department on a temporary basis The job holder will perform other duties as commensurate with grade and role as agreed with the line manager
