The postholder would be leading the Rail Modelling team. This team owns, maintains and runs a whole suite of modelling tools which provide the analytical base for a range of policy and investment decisions. Additionally, the team own much of the guidance used to forecast rail demand and revenue which is critical to HMG forecasts feeding into high-profile decisions including Budgets and Spending Reviews. The main responsibilities include:
Leading the team to produce high quality analysis, forecasts and modelling outputs.Delivering a complex research and development program aimed at improving our forecasts.Communicating our forecasts and analysis to senior leaders and analysts.Playing an active role in the leadership of the Transport Modelling profession in DfT.Leading and managing a team of c10 analysts.Great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need.
