Job Introduction

Our team is based at Shearbridge Depot, providing a vital service to the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensed trade. We administer HC/PH licence applications in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions and the Council’s policies and procedures.

We are looking for a temporary Licensing Officer to join our dedicated team in the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

 The main responsibilities of this role:

  • Have excellent customer service skills, maintaining a polite and professional manner at all times.
  • Have the ability to communicate sometimes complex matters in a way that is easily understood, both verbally, written and by electronic means.
  • Be able to check documents and applications against established guidelines and procedures.
  • Have excellent attention to detail. 
  • Interrogate and maintain a range of information systems and databases, completing enquiries as appropriate and in line with service user guidelines and procedures.
  • Be competent in a wide range of IT packages relating to the area of work, including management information.
  • Interpret licensing legislation and policy in a fair and proportionate manner
