Job Introduction
We are looking for 2 Senior Engineers to join our dedicated team in the Department of Place within Highways Services. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.
Our team is diverse and multifaceted, with a core focus on Highway Engineering. We pride ourselves on designing schemes in-house and working closely with external consultants and contractors. Be part of a team that is at the forefront of transforming our district's transport infrastructure.
As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our district. Supporting major transportation and highway projects, and contributing to the transformation of our district with an unprecedented investment of over £300 million over the next 5 to 10 years. Be a part of shaping a more sustainable transport network and making a lasting impact on our community. Your responsibilities will include leading feasibility studies, designing and developing highway schemes, ensuring legal and safety compliance, managing project budgets and timelines, and providing technical expertise and leadership.
The main responsibilities of this role:
• Feasibility and Concept Studies: Conduct studies and organise public engagement events to support the development and delivery of highway capital works projects.
• Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and procurement of highway schemes, ensuring compliance with national standards and internal requirements.
• Legal and Safety Compliance: Ensure the Council meets its legal obligations under relevant legislation.
• Project Management: Oversee project budgets and timelines, mitigating any issues to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Team Leadership and Communication: Provide leadership to junior staff, manage stakeholder communication, and produce accurate technical reports for decision-making.
