Job description

Beechwood Medical Centre

Receptionist and Admin Clerk

The closing date is 16 October 2026

Job summary

The post-holder will be working with the rest of the team at Beechwood Medical Centre. You will mainly be working in the administration office dealing with patients on the telephone. You will work alongside other team members who will be working in this office. The hours are quite specific in order to cover the site for all of the hours we are open. If you have worked in General Practice or Primary Care before that would be useful but it is not essential all of the training will be given.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist and admin clerk. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will depend on factors such as workload and staffing levels as directed by the Practice Operations Manager:

a. Carry out administrative duties associated with working in a busy General Practice.

b. Deal with all patients and visitors to the practice in a face to face and telephone environment.

c. Book, change and cancel appointments for patients in line with current arrangements.

d. Deal with things, like prescription requests, patient registrations, patient signposting and carrying out duties as requested by the Practice Operations Manager, Business Manager or Partners

e. To work with other team members and support the practice operationally. This may included things like ordering, room allocations, photocopying, post management and other general reception and admin duties.

The hours for this role are very specific in order to cover the surgery for the hours we are open:

Monday - 1.00pm - 6.30pm (5.5 Hours)

Tuesday - 3.30pm - 6.30pm (3.0 Hours)

Wednesday - Day Off

Thursday - 3.30pm - 6.30pm (3 Hours)

Friday - 8.00am - 6.30pm (10 Hours) to include a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak.

Total weekly hours - 21.5

You MUST be able to work these hours, although we will have a small degree of flexability.
